  Shore Hat  
  The hat is worked in the round from the top down beginning with an I-Cord knot at the top, and ending with an attached I-Cord around the circumference of the brim. Some jewelry wire is enclosed in the attached I-Cord to give the brim a sturdy edge. A great all-year hat to protect the eyes from the sun, or snow.  
   

Finished Measurements:
20.5" circumference at band; to fit 20–23" head circumference

Yarn Requirements:
Balance by O-Wool
50% organic merino, 50% organic cotton
50 gram hank = approx 130 yards
• 2 balls.

Knitting Needles:
Crown—U.S. Size 6 (4 mm): set of 5 dpns.
I-Cord (dpn), Body, Band and Brim (cir)—U.S. size 5 (3.75 mm): 16" cirular and set of 2 dpns.
Brim—U.S. size 4 (3.5 mm): 16" circular
I-Cord BO—U.S. size 3 (3.25 mm): set of 2 dpns. Or sizes needed to obtain gauge.

Notions:
marker, tapestry needle, machine washable waste yarn (optional); wire cutters; firm jewelry wire.

Gauge: 20 sts and 36 rnds = 4" in garter stitch with size US 5 needles; 19 sts and 48 rnds = 4" in slipped st pattern with size US 5 needles.
