Handspun Newspaper Yarn!

November 21st, 2008
This is inspiring.

I canceled my newspaper subscription because I couldn't stand the amount of paper that lingered around my apartment on a regular basis. While I have no plans to be inspired enough to take on weeks upon weeks of newspapers, I may pull out my drop spindel and offer to help out family members who still do collect newspapers. What a great idea.

If I were a crayon:

November 13th, 2008
What time did you get up this morning? 5:48

Diamonds or pearls? Um... wood.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema? I really can't remember.

What is your favorite TV show? I don't watch TV much, but we have all the seasons of the Simpsons on DVD. So, I guess it would have to be the Simpsons.

What do you usually have for breakfast? "Usually" I have an apple. But lately I've been enjoying the comfort of a bagel.

What is your middle name? Jeanne

What food do you dislike? Well, my body really dislikes greasy foods, but I can't necessarily say that "I" dislike them :)

What is your favorite CD at the moment? Jacks Mannequin, The Glass Passanger

What kind of car do you drive? Jeep Liberty 2005

Favorite Sandwich? I'm not much of a bread fan... but right now an egg salad wrap sounds good with lots of lettuce

What characteristic do you despise? Stubbornness and cockyness

Favorite item of clothing? My beatrice sweater

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? Meh, right here is fine. I don't need to be anyplace else to be at peace. A vacation is usually more work than not. So, yeah. Here is good.

Favorite brand of clothing? Brand? Are you kidding me? I like handmade clothes best.

Where would you retire? Someplace in the woods, at the top of a hill, in a stone house.

What was your most recent memorable birthday? I think 25 was nice.

Favorite sport to watch? I don't watch TV, or go to games...

Furthest place you are sending this? I dunno. It's on my blog, so people across the globe can read it if they really want to.

When is your birthday? March 12th

Are you a morning person or a night person? Morning. I wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed :)

What is your shoe size? 8.5 or 9 depending on the shoes

Pets? Two kitties, Jelly and Mozy

Any new and exciting news you'd like to share with us? Um. I'm moving on Saturday.

What did you want to be when you were little? Oh, lots of things; a mountain climber, veternarian, fashion designer...

How are you today? Me. Breathing.

What is your favorite candy? Chocolate.

What is your favorite flower? Daisy

What day on the calendar are you looking forward to? Today is nice. Why bother looking forward, when all I can experience is right now anyway? It only creates false expectations and hopes that could very likely lead to disapointment.

What is your favorite pastime? (guess!)

What are you listening to right now? The sound of my fingers typing.

What was the last thing you ate? Oh, don't ask me that... I'm ashamed... alright. A Starbucks Caramel Frappochino

Do you wish on stars? Lately I have been lots.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be? See the color to the left.

How is the weather right now? Cool, dreary and about to rain.

The first person you spoke to on the phone today? I haven't spoken on the phone today.

Favorite soft drink? "soft" aye... water.

Favorite Restaurant? Macaroni Grill

Real hair color? Dark brown... the color it is.

What was your favorite toy as a child? I can't really recally any particular toy as a favorite. Dirt was pretty fun though... Always there... didn't really break.

Summer or winter? Spring and Fall. hehe.

Hugs or kisses? Hugs

Chocolate or Vanilla? Oh, chocolate, all the way.

Coffee or Tea? Herbal tea. mhmm...

When was the last time you cried? Tuesday.

What is under your bed? A rug. My bed is right on the floor.

What did you do last night? Visited my dad and step-mom, then came home and packed.

What are you afraid of? Oh, everything and nothing... fear is always there. But I've been more mindful of it lately.

Salty or sweet? Depends on how my body's feeling at the time. Right now, neither sound very good.

How many keys on your key ring? Three; one for my car, and two to get into my apartment.

How many years at your current job? Um. I think it will be 4 in March.

Favorite day of the week? Tuesday is nice because I have yoga with Lorraine, and Saturday is nice because I don't have to wake up for anything and I don't have to work the next day. Friday is nice because it's Friday. Monday's good because I usually visit my mom; Wednesdays are nice because I visit my dad and step-mom. Thursday is nice because I have yoga with Danielle. Sunday's alright.

How many places have you lived in? Just Massachusetts.

Do you make friends easily? Friends attach themselves to me pretty easily, but it takes me a while to open up and trust them before I can consider them a "friend"

What would you like for Christmas? These.

Project 4 Fin!

November 11th, 2008
I've successfully avoided Project 4 for a month now. With all that's been going on in my personal life, it's been interesting trying to fit in all the prior obligations. I've had to ask for a few extensions, and everyone's been so understanding. It's really great to feel the human heart shine through even in the working world. So, thanks to all of you who've been flexible with me the past month or so. I really appreciate your understanding.

So, Project 4 really didn't have all that much left to it. I had to work about 6 rows on each front to get to the shoulder shaping, then sew the sleeves in. Once it was all sewn up I began working on a small accessory piece that is essential for this design. To be honest, this accessory was my reason for not continuing with the knitting of this sweater. It seemed like it would take forever and would be tedious. But I was REALLY pleasantly surprised. It only took me 2 evenings. Phew, what a relief. All that worry over 2 evenings.

Now to get the pattern finished!
